25 years since Crash of 1987: was it better back then?

It was the worst one-day drop in U.S. markets. On the “Black Monday” of October 19th 1987, the Dow Jones erased 22.6% of its value in a few hours. Despite the seriousness of the situation, it would seem that investors’ life was better “in the good old days.”
